Welcome to the GSP Pier. You are looking for a key box. Congrats to "Smiling Duo" FTF.
Welcome to the Gulf State Park Pier on Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast. Gulf State Park's Pier opened July 23, 2009. The new pier is the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 1540ft. The pier boast features that were not available on the old pier, destroyed in 2004 by Hurricane Ivan, such as indoor seating for concession area, indoor retail area for tackle and souvenirs, comfort stations at the midpoint of the pier and wheelchair accessible rail fishing. The new pier has 2448 feet of fishing space available along the rails.
The Pier is so long that I was able to hide three geocaches on it and still meet Groundspeak’s proximity requirements. The first cache is free, but the next two will cost you. There is a $3 fee for sight seers. Children 11 years old and under are free.
This area has a great deal of muggles, so you will have to be really discrete. The first cache, “Welcome”, is a camouflaged micro cylinder.
You better hope it is a bad day of fishing to get to number two, “Fish Guts”. It is a key box.
At the “End of the Line” (also a key box) it will be almost impossible to avoid muggles unless you come late at night in the winter. Please try to time your pursuit of this one for when there are very few muggles around. If they see you, please take time to educate them about our great game. Maybe they will become a convert like me and work to add even more caches for us all to find. This last cache is a premium only cache, due to the high concentration of muggles in the area.
For more information about the Pier, please contact the pier at: (251) 967-FISH(3474).
