This is our First GeoCach hide and is a Small Pelican container placed 01-01-11 by Best Finder 2004 and Mom and Dad. The cache was a present from Santa and Best Finder 2004 requested it be placed near the River. The route takes you North along the Kissimmee River Road. The road is paved through a small subdivision, and then it is a graded dirt road the rest of the way. To the East is the Herbert Hoover Dike. Pull over and walk to the top of the dike. Looking East you are treated to a view of Southern Okeechobee County that could be straight out of the delightful novel “A Land Remembered”. This book is a local favorite. To the West is the Kissimmee River and Glades County. This part of the river was widened and straightened years ago and reportedly displaced a portion of Okeechobee County’s boundary to remain in Glades County. There are lots of “pull-in’s” to the river bank and the fishing is always good.
When placed the cache was loaded with a log and pencil, Mardi Gras Beads, a little man that used to have a parachute, a Honduras 2 dollar bill gifted to the cause of GeoCaching from Mrs. P.K. Ergle, a chip from downtown Orland taken from PineyWood Rooter in North Okeechobee County and a Green Travel Bug RLYRCV.
