Geocache Description:

When I (CamoMan 1) was 12, I made my made up here to the top of Onion Peak on my dirt bike. My dad was sooo mad at me. But it was great!!! I decided to place a cache here in honor of the great times I had exploring all the mountain tops in the Cannon Beach area until the roads were closed. Also, from this point there used to be a Hang Gliding platform.

The trip to the top is a 6 mile hike. Along the way you will encounter a landslide you will have to scramble over. The terrain rating is due to the landslide and the long hike into the cache site. The altitude change is 100' to 2424'

I hope you enjoy the hike and the view from the top of this Mountain. Looking North you can see Seaside and the Columbia River.

The hang gliders would launch from here and land in Arch Cape on the beach. Unfortunately, with certain adventures comes tragic stories. A man was hang gliding and was caught by a freak wind and was blown into an area called Ice Box. The road to the cache is named after him.

I, Camoman 1 hope you enjoy this area as much as I do. Deer and Elk can be spotted :)

Note: Good waterholes for the geopups.

Directions to cache site: Stay on the right roads: Hug Point Rd - 2.5 miles, Onion Peak Rd to Dave's Spur Rd. Do not take spur roads. Look on google maps for guidance.
