in our disclaimer.
The cache is located near the old Flat Top fire tower in the Chattahoochee National Forest. When you are close to the cache, take note of the remains here. They cover a wide area and hide a benchmark or two.
You can take forest service roads close - real close if the gate is open. The road beyond the gate is usually maintained for high clearance vehicles, but it can be rough after a good rain. Once you make it up to a clearing and a turn-around - park here. Take the old road to the right when you first enter the clearing. If you were able to drive this far, do not drive on this road. It is closed but has no signs indicating that - just two well eroded berms.
If the gate is closed at Dyer Mountain heading up to Flat Top, walk around the gate and follow the Benton-Mackaye trail which is a more direct route to the top (but steeper).
The cache box is labeled following USFS guidelines - www.geocaching.com, Cache Name, GC#, and email address are displayed on the outside surface of the cache. Please be sure to lock it securely and hide it well when you are done (no piles of sticks or rocks - you'll see).
