These caches are a series of three, which can be done on their own or interlinked. This a small cache containing a log book, pen and tweezers will be required. This cache can be found by one of two ways, by compass with the use of back bearings and pacing, It can also be found by using trail one (GC2KZ54) for the north co-ords, and trail two (GC2KZ5T) for the west co-ords.
This is only rated as a 3.5 because of the compass work, it would only rate as a 1 if you use the other method GPS
Its that time of year when you will find small teams of scouts practising for the Cheshire hike where scouts take part in teams of two, with over 300 teams taking part with an age range of 11 to 18 covering distances of between 30k for the younger ones, and 60k for the older ones. One question most leaders will often ask is where are you! the usual reply is don't know well what do you know, apart from you are on the sandstone trail. From the cache you can see three bearing points, and using triangulation and back bearings this will provide you with and approximate position where you are on the trail
SJ 535675 347 deg
SJ 545663 60 deg
X marks the spot
SJ537593 186 deg
For those who are not sure what SJ stands for it is the area the map covers, or the Landranger 117
Once you have worked out where you are on the sandstone trail,
You will now have to do a bit of pacing, It is approx 1.5 marks on your compass scale.
Using the above you will find two FTF one for the compass bearing only, and one for the GPS The honesty is up to you!
Once you have found your mark
Sit down take a pew
Get out your brew
Enjoy the view
You will be very nearly sat on it
CONGRATULATIONS TO SWEENEY TODD FTF USING THE COMPASS ONLY
