Geocache Description:

The Geocache is placed up on a rocky bluff that overlooks "Gasoline Alley" in Merritt, British Columbia. It is within 1.5 km of HWY 5 Coquihalla Highway Phase 2 to Kamloops.

A road is now paved up to a point that would leave the hike approximately 0.5 km. However, there is no trail or path once you step off road. The climb is somewhat easy for at least half the distance and then becomes steep for the last 100 meters. The bluff is easy to see as a large rock outcropping and the Western approach is far easier to climb then the Northeastern. Hikers will be rewarded with an excellent view of the Nicola Valley.

The Geocache is in a small plastic container measuring 21 x 13 x 6 cm with a blue lid. Inside the container are the logbook and orange and yellow 14g pokers chips for trading (The Perfect "Bluff").

If hikers parked at the Chevron in Gasoline Alley or across the street at MacDonald's (a distance of about 1 km max) the trek up and back down can be accomplished well within 2 hours even with younger children. I have taken my girls for years.
