Geocache Description:

The Philli's annual camping meet will be at Cheddar, Somerset,
and will have a CHRISTMAS theme this year.
So book the date in your diaries for:
"The Wild West Cache Bash"
NOW!

Essential dates for your diary
24th to 26nd June 2011

We have booked in at Broadway House Holiday Park, situated in Somerset on the edge of the picturesque Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and only a short walk (1 mile) to the centre of the picturesque village of Cheddar. The site is well maintained with spacious pitches, and all have electric and water. There are  excellent facilities including modern heated toilets and washrooms/showers, laundry facilities, a well stocked convenience shop, a licensed bar and restaurant serving reasonably priced food, children’s play areas for all ages including a large adventure playground, skate park, competition standard BMX track, swimming pool and crazy golf.  The site is easily accessible by road just a few miles from M5 junction 22, and for those using public transport the nearest station is Weston-Super-Mare with buses from Weston-Super-Mare passing the park entrance. For more information on local transport it might be worth checking out the Cheddar Village website.
For those of you who do not like the idea of camping (I can't understand why), the site does have a number of self catering chalets and caravans that you can book.

The obligatory BBQ will be held on the Saturday evening which will have a Christmas theme (start sorting out your costumes now) to which all smiley hunters are welcome. I will add details for this as we develop and formalise our plans, but do expect lots of silliness (muddy legs department).
Please bring your own food for the BBQ and if you can, a BBQ, although if you can't manage a BBQ there will be plenty around that you will be able to share.

If you intend to come to this event please can you log your intentions below, and please include whether you are camping, which nights you are camping and how many are in your party and how many are children. I suggest you add this page to your watch list as you will then be automatically notified when we add any updates.
UPDATE: Could you please also add if you would like to take part in the Secret Santa (Now Closed)

Program
The program is at a very early stage of development, but as it develops we shall add details
below and send out announcements.

The timings are not hard and fast, and could possibly be a little late if things overrun
but are unlikely to be early.

Friday
From 12:00pm Arrive and set up camp
Please book in at site reception. Reception will book you in and direct you to the camping area where you will be allocated your pitch.
7:00pm Meet & greet - With quorn chilli supper and mulled cider at camp HQ. We do have a few disposable cups bowls and forks but if you can it would be helpful if you could please bring your own.
9:00pm ish Night Caching - A number of cacher's will be attempting a couple of the local night caches. Maple Leaf had considered disabling these for the duration of the event due to concerns about lots of people attempting them might disturb residents. She has kindly decided to keep them active but please be respectful when passing any residential areas and through the campsite.
Also there is likely to be an opportunities on other nights so you may wish to join a party then.
Saturday
New caches - We have not placed any new caches for this event but  Maple Leaf & Paradiddle have kindly placed a number of new caches in readiness for the event. These are already live and there maybe a few more that will go live before the event. A big thanks goes to both of you.
Pims o'clock
(6:00pm)
BBQ - The camp silliness begins in Fancy Dress (non-campers welcome)

If you wish to BBQ please bring your own food and BBQ if you have one. If you don't wish to BBQ, then please come and join us anyway with or without your dinner, all are welcome.
7:00pm on Secret Santa - We have a special guest who is taking a break from his holidays just for us and he has kindly offered to help give out the pressies. There will be lots of them so please listen out and collect them quickly please.
Prizes - There will be prizes for the best decorated pitch and children's fancy dress.
Reindeer racing - Get your red noses ready, all will be revealed!
8:00pm ish Sue's mega raffle - This year we are raising money for a locally based dog rescue, Dogsfriends. As many will know we foster dogs before they find a happy forever home and will probably have Louis with us, an ex puppy farm dog who is looking forward to a much happier life. He is a very scared and timid little boy so please don't crowd him and approach him slowly letting him come to you if he wants to.

We have loads of fabulous prizes (presents) this year with much thanks to our daughter Jen for contacting loads of companies who have been generous with their donations. Tickets will be on sale from Friday at £1 per strip, if somehow you get missed please stop Sue, Jen or me and ask.
Sunday

If you need to get in touch with us for whatever reason you can contact us on our mobiles (reception allowing) on:

We have negotiated what we believe to be an excellent all inclusive price of £15/night/pitch, with no extra charges for awnings, pup tents, dogs, electric etc. We also have exclusive use of two adjoining fields.

Bookings are to be made direct with the site on 01934 742610 and ask for Jan, ensuring that you mention that you are with the Geocaching group and a £7.50 deposit per pitch will be required at time of booking. Glastonbury Festival
I have spoken to both locals and the campsite about the effects this has on the Cheddar area and I have been reassured that it has little effect. This will be reduced further as far as the event is concerned due to the fact that the majority of festival goers arrive earlier in the week and do not leave until very late Sunday/Monday when the festival ends.
