This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

Geocache Description:

Much has been said of the custom of making resolutions for the coming of a new year.

  • Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits. ~Anonymous
  • Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account. ~Oscar Wilde
  • Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions; next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. ~Mark Twain
  • Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right. ~Oprah Winfrey
  • Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average - which means you have met your New Year's resolution. ~Jay Leno

Some people making resolutions for the new year believe that they have a better chance of keeping them if they share their resolutions with others. Some prefer to keep them to themselves. Whatever your preference, this cache commemorates the famous (or infamous) practice of making New Year's resolutions and offers you the chance to share them if you so choose.

The posted coordinates will take you to a beautiful location that is overlooked by many people coming to visit New Jersey's Northernmost and highest State Park. Here you'll find a perfect picnic site and a tree with some blue-dot blazes. Count the number of blue-dot blazes on this tree and call that X. You'll need to project a waypoint from this tree, a distance of 400 times X plus 273 feet, at a bearing of 15 times X plus 3 degrees true. This will take you to the final cache.

May the New Year bring you everything you hope. Happy caching!
