If you reach this cache, you are the summit of the northwestern peak of Bowman Mountain, at 3,356', the site of an old lookout tower that has long since been abandoned and recently torn down. Due to the extensive recent clearcutting, views from here are awesome and not only include Mt. Baker and the middle fork of the Nooksack River canyon, but also both North and South Twin Sisters Peaks.
Acessing this cache requires 6.3 miles of walking along well-graveled logging roads. After leaving the "At the Fork" cache site, continue across the small bridge and veer generally north up the road to mile 4.8, where the road forks and turns abruptly southeast and continues to climb up to a saddle. A series of huge clearcuts are seen along the way. At the saddle, hike up the road to the left through another clearcut, and circle clockwise up to the top. At the time of this writing, huge slash piles adorn the very summit.
The same parking area is used for reaching this cache as is used for "Bowman Beginning" and "At the Fork" caches.
Enjoy the view.
Congratulations to Mtnfrog for being FTF on this one, on a cold snowy day.
