For Mom Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

A regular-size cache placed near the Brock Cemetery in memory of my mom, Alyce E. Klock.

My mom was born in Ashland, PA on 21 October 1942. She was a wonderful mother to me and my sister, and a loving wife to our father for over 48 years. She was the only child of Eva E. Beury who still lives here in Ashland. When my wife and I started really caching a lot in 2008, my mom became very intrigued by our new hobby. We decided to buy my parents a Garmin Colorado of their own and took them to their first few geocaches in March of 2009. After finding 315 caches (in 7 US states and 2 countries) and placing 4 caches of her own, my mom passed away very unexpectedly. In this short time, geocaching had become a common interest that drew us closer together and the subject dominated our telephone conversations. I feel very fortunate to have been able to cache with her on a few occasions when she visited us in Texas and during the couple of times that I was able to make it up to Pennsylvania. My mom passed away on 29 December 2010 and was laid to rest on 3 January 2011. I placed this cache in her memory on the day of her funeral. You can visit her grave if you wish; it is located 125 feet north of this cache location. The container that we chose for this cache is the same exact type that she used for her first placed cache. There is plenty of room for trackables and trade items... she really liked that part of the game. The original contents include: a copy of her funeral card, a log sheet, a few PathTags, some new pencils, a small container of Play-Doh, a trackable item that I had been holding onto for too long, and a few other random swag items. Please leave her funeral card in the container; all other items are available for trade. UPDATE: 17 August 2019 - I replaced the container with a large ammo can because an animal kept chewing through the original container lid. I also added new swag including 5 bouncy balls, a plastic slinky, and an Army paratrooper toy.
