Geocache Description:

The Roxburgh Branch (Railway) Series.




I'm being cautious here!!!!!

This is as near as I can get to where the railway staion building was at Beaumont, without going onto privately owned land.

Beaumont was the terminus of this line from 15 December 1914 until 16 December 1924 when the Millers Flat Station complex was opened.

When I asked my friend, who grew up in Millers Flat, where the Beaumont Railway Station building used to be he said "opposite the shops". "Ah", I said, "but where did the shops use to be?" So we went and had a look. Nothing now remains, well very nearly nothing. Just one old building that I am told was one of the shops.
The spot I have given as a reference point I have had confirmed by a Beaumont local as being pretty close.


The cache container is placed quite near when the Beaumont water tank used to be. It is a 200ml, clear Systema Klipit with logbook, pencil and sharpener.

This B&W photo was taken about 1920 when Beaumont was still the terminus.
