Geocache Description:

Follyfoot was a children's television series broadcast in the early 1970s, inspired by the Monica Dickens 1963 novel "Cobbler's Dream". The ethos of Follyfoot generally was to give another chance to both horses and people who had been rejected by the rest of society. Close by, and probably watching you, are two friendly (certainly not rejected), heavy horses. See pic ‘Muggles’

The series' theme song, "The Lightning Tree", written by Steven Francis and sung by The Settlers, is well-remembered, sometimes more so than the series itself and it is this theme song which contributed to the name of this cache, there being a similar ‘Lightning Tree’ very close to the cache site.

Cache is a 1 litre ‘cliplock’ type plastic box suitable for swaps and able to accept geocoins & most sizes of TBs.

Parking is available near the cache at about N52o 57.576 W001o 14.454 but please park considerately and do not obstruct the entrance to the bridle path, which gives essential access to a large residence, or use the drives of nearby houses for turning your vehicle.

For those who might wish to seek more caches in this area, a circular walk of about 2½ miles can be made, with visits to van der Valk, Catstone Hill, 2 Counties View (formerly Shaw’s Hill), Radio Transmitter & Balloon Wood.
