Geocache Description:

van der Valk was a British television series, first shown in 1972, produced by Thames TV. It starred Barry Foster in the title role as Dutch detective Commissaris "Piet" (real name Simon) van der Valk and was based on the characters and atmosphere (but not the plots) of the novels of Nicolas Freeling. The stories are mostly based in and around Amsterdam, where Commissaris van der Valk is a cynical yet intuitive detective.

This cache takes its name from the signature tune of the series, Eye Level, composed by Jack Trombey which reached number one in the UK singles charts in 1973. It was intended to hide the cache at ‘eye level’ but this, of course, depends on the height of the searcher!

Cache is a 1 litre ‘cliplock’ type plastic box suitable for swaps and able to accept geocoins & most sizes of TBs.

This area is very popular for walkers & cyclists so please be wary of muggles and hide the cache carefully, to avoid accidental discovery!

Parking is available about (1/3Mile) from the cache at about N52o 57.576 W001o 14.454 but please park considerately and do not obstruct the entrance to the bridle path, which gives essential access to a large residence, or use the drives of nearby houses for turning your vehicle.

For those who might wish to seek more caches in this area, a circular walk of about 2½ miles can be made, with visits to Follyfoot, Catstone Hill, 2 Counties View (formerly Shaw’s Hill), Radio Transmitter & Balloon Wood.
