This is
where my caching adventures began!!
While
trolling for golf balls with my Airedale Brandy in mid January
2007, I happened upon a strange cylindrical object which bore the
words "Do Not Disturb". The cylinder contained a scroll of cryptic
signatures and dates.....what a curious discovery!!
I
tossed the cylinder back into the weeds and checked on it for
several days. I decided to investigate further, went to the
Geocaching.com website (the info was also on the cylinder) and
learned it was a game piece in what appeared to be a fun activity
and I was intrigued!!
A few
weeks later I had a GPSr, a handle and was able to replace the
cache where it was supposed to be.
The
cache of course, was Doc Magoo's "9th Fairway"
GCJDV2.

Bring
your cameras, enjoy the views and watch for eagles and other birds
who find refuge here in the winter and/or breed during the summer
months. I have seen trumpeter swans, golden and bald eagles,
cormorants, all kinds of waterfowl....cedar waxwings, red
wing black birds, blue herons, swallows and owls...... the list is
long and varied. There are bunnies, coyotes and a river otter has
been known to frequent the pond on the golf course. Quality golf
balls can be harvested almost year round and in the late summer,
there are tons of blackberries!!

This
can be a high muggle zone so please take care in seeking and
replacing the cache. The area is frequented by cyclists, walkers,
joggers, bird watchers, fisher folk and of course,
golfers.
During
high water months you will not be able to drive to the cache but
the terrain is flat so you can walk or bike from either end of the
dyke access.
A pair
of eagles (their nest is close by) and an Airedale Angel named
Brandy watch over the cache.
The
cache is a cammo covered waterproof match container containing only
a log book, so bring your own writing utensil.
