Geocache Description:

Welcome to Tarnagulla.  This is your 2nd History Lesson.

This little multi is a simple one.  All the questions below are found either by walking or driving to each waypoint.

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE LISTED COORDINATES.

All you have to do to find the cache is answer 1 question from each WP, do a very simple calculation/substitution and hey presto…

Ok.  Lets get the tour and history lesson under way.

WP1 is at the above listed coordinates.

The coordinates should have you standing in front of the Post Office.

The Post Office & Residence were opened in 1886 and refurbished in 1996 to include a mini-mart.  It is now privately owned.

Your question here is:

A = How many private post boxes are there?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP2

The Old Masonic Hotel & Lodge Rooms were built approximately 1870.

Your question here is:

B = Is there an arched window above the LH door? Y=0 & N=3

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP3

The First Golden Age Hotel.  The original hotel was built on this site in 1859; the site has remained as a hotel since that date.

Your question here is:

C = TOTAL number of horses on sign on roof?

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP4

Colonial Bank was built in 1866 and sold to the Union Bank in 1888, eventually closed in 1942.  It served as the town's general store until 1989 and is now a private residence.

Your question here is:

D = How many windows on front of building?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP5

Locharron - was originally built in 1859 for the Union Bank of Australia.  Has since been used as a restaurant and is now a private residence.

Your question here is:

E = Around the door, how many grey ½ bricks?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP6

The Wesleyan Methodist Church opened in 1865, in 1962 it was converted to the Uniting Church with a seating capacity of 300.  Badly damaged in a recent fire it is now privately owned.

Your question here is:

F = Does the church have a roof? Y=3 & N=9

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WP7

This reef was discovered by New Zealenders from Poverty Bay and called Poverty Reef 1852

Your question here is:

G = What is the 3rd number in the oz's?

The cache can be found at:

S36° 46.abd   E143° 50.efg

a = G – 2

b = F – E + 1

d = E

e = B

f = A / 9

g = C + D - 2

You are looking for a small cache with room for very small swaps, log and pen.

We hope you enjoyed your lesson.
