Geocache Description:

This cache is a nano, hidden adjacent to a public footpath in Walberswick. The area is suitable for pushchairs. Please bring your own pen/pencil and please replace the cache exactly how you found it, also no spoilers in the logs.

Near to this cache location you will notice a rather well preserved pill box and access trench. This I am told is one of the best local examples of such world war 2 defences. This whole hill and surrounding area is covered with similar pill boxes and larger anti-aircraft batteries. This particular pill box and access trench has been adopted by the University of East Anglia and they are working with Natural England to convert this site back to what it would of looked like during WW2. This will involve clearing most of the trees and shrubs back and clearing the whole hill. This would of given soldiers stationed here a clear 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. Allowing them to spot German invasion or approaching bombers.

There is a website set up to educate anyone interested in this subject. Please visit (visit link)

Natural England have kindly allowed for this cache to be placed.
