Geocache Description:

I placed this one while hiking along the cross country ski trail on the northern part of the island on a crisp winter day. When you see the bench, look for the evergreen and you'll be on your way!

I've often wondered about containers like this whenever I'm poking around a bushy pine tree in search of a cache. Haven't found one like this yet, so decided to do it myself. Enjoy!

This will be an easy find, but the vertically challenged may need a boost to get the log signed. Bring your own pen, as the log is nano-sized even though the cache is somewhat larger.

Goose Island is beautiful all year long, but winter is my favorite time for caching here -- no skeeters and all the squishy spots are frozen solid. When I fixed up this cache on 7/13/11, I had to wade through 100 feet or so of shin-deep water over the trail. I am upping the terrain rating slightly (2.5 --> 3.0) as a result. It's good advice for caching anywhere on Goose Island in the summer months: "Bring yer' wellies!"
