This cache is located between the villages of Ystrad Mynach and Nelson on a stretch of the National Cycle Network 47. Close by is the Penalta Community Park, a reclaimed spoil tip of the former Penalta Colliery. It contains an earth sculpture of a pit pony which is about 200m long. There is also a wetland area, different trails to explore and many wooden and metal sculptures which are scattered around the park. Car parking is available at the park for those not using pedal power !
The cache is located very near to a pedestrian crossing of the railway line which runs adjacent to the cycle path. ( fenced off ). There is no need to cross the line, the cache is on the cycle path side. You will need to bring your own pencil/pen to record your visit. This area can be very busy at times so stealth will have to be used to retrieve and replace as the cache is in plain view.
