Geocache Description:

Replacement cache is a cammoed 1 pint Tupperware Container

It is my belief that Geocaching will aide historians. What some document as Geocache,s will help keep alive local lore, urban legends or long forgotten events.

A tragic event happened here just off the shores long ago. Were the event like this to happen today, it would be in the national news for years, yet it has been forgotten. At the time it did make national news and here is a New York Times article from 1888:

In 1888, the Ferryboat Julia blew up on approach to the dock you can see a hundred yard out or so. As far as I can calculate the explosion happened down below you, next to the power tower, where there is the reminisce of a ferry dock. Seventy people were on board. There were 30 deaths and many more injured. Read the events of the day here:
