Over the hills and the valleys of dreaming
Slowly I take my way.
Life is the night with its dream-visions teeming,
Death is the waking at day.

Down thro’ the dales and the bowers of loving,
Singing, I roam afar.
Daytime or night-time, I constantly roving,-
Dearest one, thou art my star.
(Paul Laurence Dunbar)

This cache may be approached from several directions. I have offered two choices on the illustrations above. The first shows the approach via other caches on Ballineddan, Slievemaan and Lybagh as well as the approach from the south via forest tracks and the Slieveboy cache.
Obviously the easiest and quickest is the southerly approach (hence only 2 stars for terrain) and the choice is there to carry on to any of the others.
I personally prefer the long day's hike during which it is possible to snag all 6 caches including Hezekiah's one on the approach side to Lugnaquilla. Should you choose to start with Ballineddan and working clockwise there are good mountain paths from the car park given both to Ballineddan and to Slievemaan. If you wish to carry on to Lybagh and Aghavannagh then you need to continue on the track at the summit (not too easily discernible due to the motorised brigade) of Slievemaan in the direction of Lugnaquilla which should loom pretty obviously in most conditions. Very shortly you will reach a split (N52 57.575 W006 28.900) in the track where the main one goes on down to a boggy saddle and then up to Lug but another goes off to the right in the direction of Lybagh. The path becomes less distinct at times but it does reach Lybagh. To continue further as far as Aghavanagh Mountain the terrain gets considerably rougher (peat hags) for a short time and it is difficult to follow tracks but they are there ok.
Do not start the trek without all the proper mountain rain gear, waterproof boots and the guidance material, compass, map, GPSr with mapping etc.

Please note that all parts of this cache are hiked at your own risk. The cache owner takes no responsibility of any sort for any reason including accidents or mishaps.

Please be aware that cars parked in areas close to walking trails are vulnerable and they can be vandalised or stolen. Unfortunately this is an ongoing problem which is extremely difficult to solve, so there is a risk involved. I have heard recently that many hiker groups are parking at the nearest population centres and getting taxis to and from the start points at very little expense.

Please observe the country code to the best of your ability. Local landowners often generously allow access to upland areas across or through parts of their private property. Please, please be conscious of this and return the courtesy by keeping all gates closed, immediately and not on your way back!. Please use the gates where appropriate but if you have to climb over them then use the hinged side ONLY.
Please do not cause any damage of any sort to fences or barriers along the way.
