Geocache Description:

The first cabin in Poiana Brasov was built in 1904. Poiana Brasov in 1906 was recognized as a winter resort and three years later the first competitions were held in winter. In 1951 international winter games held there for students.
Prima cabana in Poiana Brasov a fost construita in 1904. In 1906 Poiana Brasov a fost recunoscuta ca statiune de iarna si trei ani mai tarziu se desfasurau primele competitii de iarna. In 1951 au tinut loc jocurile internationale de iarna a studentilor.

Poiana Brasov is the most famous winter sports resort in Romania and also an important international tourist center. It has 12 ski trails, with varying degrees of difficulty, sports fields, a lake, discos, bars and restaurants. Accommodation is provided in good part in luxury hotels, boarding houses, in villas and chalets. The resort is equipped with two lines and a cable car gondola which provides access for tourists to Postavarului peaks, plus, seasonal, more lift lines.

Poiana Brasov este cea mai renumita statiune pentru sporturile de iarna din Romania si totodata un important centru turistic international. Ea dispune de 12 partii de schi, cu grade diferite de dificultate, terenuri de sport, un lac, discoteci, baruri si restaurante. Cazarea este asigurata in buna parte in hoteluri de lux, pensiuni, in vile sau cabane. Statiunea este dotata cu doua linii de telecabina si una de telegondola care asigura accesul turistilor spre culmile Postavarului, la care se adauga, sezonier, mai multe linii de teleski.
