Cowlitz Cemetery Challenge! Mystery Cache
Cowlitz Cemetery Challenge!
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This geocache is the final location for a series of caches I have titled the "Cowlitz Cemetery Challenge!" To find this cache, you will have to visit 5 other caches located in cemeteries thoughout the county. In each of these caches will be a number. These numbers will be used to figure out the cords for this final cache.
ATTENTION: Please read cache description in full.
Please respect the cemetery, and do not do this one in the dark.
The five geocaches in cemeteries you must find are:
Frank Able Cemetery (Woodland area) GC2MEE3
Lone Pine Cemetery (Ariel) GC2MEEQ
Grasseth Cemetery (Longview area) GC2M8NG
Stockport Cemetery (Ostrander area) GC2M8NK
Kalama IOOF Cemetery (Kalama) GC2MEH3
Please note that this use to hae 6 cemeteries, but one fo them has bee strck from the challenge due to some cachers writting down the number 9 instead of 6 at Green Hills Cemetery. So I hae just added the number here.
This regular sized geocache is located in Castle Rock's I.O.O.F. Cemetery. One of the city's larger overlooked cemeteries, it offically became a cemetery in 1901, but you can find people burried here in the years before that.
The final cords are:
N 46 16.(Stockport Cemetery)(Frank Able Cemetery)(Lone Pine Cemetery)
W 122 53.(Kalama IOOF Cemetery)(6)(Grasseth Cemetery)
Record the numbers in the caches at these cemeteries and use to above final cords formula to find the this cache.
ATTENTION: Entrance into the cemetery is located at the intersection of Powell Rd and Winfield Dr. It is a dirt driveway were you can park at the base. The final cords will not take you directly to the cache. Instead they will take you to a tree. When you get to this tree, you are to face west northwest, towards the headstones of Watkins and Ruprecht. The cache is in this direction about 22 steps. You should notice the final area when you begin to come upon it.
Thanks and good hunting! Congrats to two great area cachers Cascade Climber and Geomimi who are celebrating their 3rd anniversery of caching.
