The village of Amerat was often cut-off from the Capital Area
when raging floods would rush through the narrow Wadi Adai valley.
No longer; over a period of 4 years an amazing 4-lane highway has
been built that scales the steep sea-ward flank of Jebel Abyad,
runs through a valley between two peaks and descends down towards
the village of Amerat and onwards to Quryat on the backside of the
mountain. To celebrate this recently completed civil engineering
feat a cache has been placed at the highest point of the road.
The cache consists of a regular lock-n-lock box camouflaged with
a tan coloured sock. The cache is hidden in a small wadi next to
the Amerat highway on the Ghubra to Amerat side of the road and
will require some scrambling over the rocks and boulders to reach.
There is a small flat sandy area at the mouth of the wadi where you
can park your car next to the road. For the sake of road safety,
please to not park you car on the asphalt shoulder of the highway
itself! Please be aware that snakes and scorpions love to shelter
from the scorching sun in any nook or cranny that provides some
shade. Always handle stones with care!
An unregistered geocoin in a white envelope has been left in the
cache for the "First to Find" geocacher. This should not be
confused with the Raksen's FTF Celtic Knot geocoin which is
travelling the world in search of new caches. The latter should be
an incentive for the finder to hide their own new cache and help
this coin to continue its mission!
Happy hunting!
