This cache was originally
"The Onion Patch" but someone dug up the Onion Patch and
carried it away; along with all of the other Onion Patches in
Crystal City. This is sad because The Onion Patch was a clever
little hide that exposed some people (I hope) to an alternate new
source.
Nevertheless, nothing is permanent and I’ve replaced the
Onion Patch with this cache and named it “The
Showcase.” I’ve named it “The Showcase”
because Crystal City, a mixed community of high density
residential, retail, and commercial land use, boasts some of the
finest and most luxurious living in an urbanized setting.
The urban canyons of the concrete jungle will likely produce
some wacky readings. I did the best I could but it's really wacky.
Once you have located GZ, look around at the various living
opportunities. It is a veritable showcase of apartments.
The Showcase, just minutes from the Pentagon, is in a high
commute area; many muggles about during morning and evening
commute. However, they won't be looking. They're droning to work.
Their heads are looking down and they’re avoiding eye
contact. Eye contact seems to frighten most. Try it when you're
there. Say "hello" to a random muggle as he or she walks by.
But it's really the resident muggles and their little urban
muggle dogs you need to be concerned about. They peek out their
windows and hide behind planters.
Good luck.
BYOP
BTW, since this replaces “The Onion Patch” and the
Onion Patch has been found by twenty-one geocachers there is no FTF
reward or FTF recognition. The FTF for the Onion Patch goes to
Seadog129 on 12/13/2010. I have, however, copied all of the
logged finds to the new log in recognition of the Onion
Patch’s finders.
So, if you found the Onion Patch then finding “The
Showcase” will be no effort and claiming another find will do
nothing but add a cheap find to your list of finds and bring shame
to you and your descendant geocachers.
Honor above the find!
