Buskett is the only woodland area in Malta, situated/located in the fertile valley of Wied Il-Luq, south of Rabat and just east of Dingli. It was planted by Grand Master Lascaris as a hunting ground. Buskett is heavily wooded with native, hardy species such as Mediterranean pines, but the gardens also hold vineyards, orangeries, olive and lemon groves. It is one of the greenest areas in Malta.
Buskett is overlooked by Verdala Palace. It was built by Grand Master Hughes de Verdalle in 1588 and now serves as an official summer residence of the President of Malta. The palace is not open to the public.
