Geocache Description:

Circle 10 – Lone Star – Cache to Eagle #3 is the third in a series of 12 public geocaches located at Eagle Project sites across the Lone Star District in the Circle 10 Council. It is part of the nation-wide Cache to Eagle Series® program. The Lone Star Cache to Eagle Series is aimed at promoting geocaching and showcasing the community service and contributions of local Eagle Scouts. Each of these Scouting-themed caches contains a code word; one of the 12 points of the Scout Law.

This cache is located in Collin County, TX at the Myers Park and Event Center. It highlights the impressive work and capabilities of local Eagle Scouts. The project is a 48ft long bridge located in the southwest corner of the park called Myers Woods which is set aside for camping. Many enhancements and projects are going in at this time to make the area more amenable for scout and youth camping. Four separate Eagle projects make up the Myers Woods Pedestrian Bridge.

Myers Woods Pedestrian Bridge North Structure and Railing Project 12/4/2010
Team 123, McKinney, TX

This project was the north structure and railing of the Myers Woods pedestrian bridge. It was done at the same time as the project for the south structure and railing. The porch or entrance to the bridge and the gravel was another project done in part the same weekend and completed the following week. The decking was put on a couple weeks later as yet another eagle project. The county engineered the project and set the posts. For this project it was necessary to raise the money to pay for the materials, buy the materials, then to come and build the bridge with them. It was a very long day with three large crews.

Myers Woods Pedestrian Bridge South Structure and Railing Project 12/4/2010
Troop 1914 (Southern Sky District), Allen, TX

For this project it was necessary to raise the money to pay for the materials, buy them, then to come and build the bridge with them. It was a very long day with a large crew and a couple hours the next day.

Myers Woods Pedestrian Bridge Entrance Porches Project 12/11/2010
Troop (Southern Sky District), Prosper, TX

This project was the entrance porches for the Myers Woods pedestrian bridge. It entailed raising the money, buying the materials, building the entrances to the bridge, and adding gravel in front of them.

Myers Woods Pedestrian Bridge Decking Project 12/18/2010
Crew 123, McKinney, TX

This project was the decking for the Myers Woods pedestrian bridge. It entailed raising the money to pay for the decking wood, cutting the decking blanks, then fitting the deck to the bridge.

Cache Details:

This small container has the code word for cache #3, a pencil, a log, and room for a few tradable items. Keep track of the code word/cache ID combos as you visit caches in the Lone Star Cache to Eagle Series. They will be needed once the 12th cache goes live. It is possible to access the cache without entering the park.

Optional Bonus Cache! If the park is open, you can attempt to find the bonus cache at the site of Meyers Bridge Eagle Projects. The coordinates for the bonus cache are located in the official cache. Due to excellent camo, the bonus cache is very difficult to find, so be sure to plan to spend some time on this one. Please observe park hours to avoid being locked-in at closing - park access is not allowed after closing.
