Geocache Description:

This puzzle series was inspired by ePeterso2’s series “Puzzle Solving 101”. Even though the traditional method of learning is the best, there is always something to be said about taking shortcuts. This series should be a sort of “Cliff Notes” for those that would like to get some of the pesky “?”s on their solved list. Follow along and make sure you keep the final coordinates for each one of these puzzles because they will help you to solve the final puzzle.

Always check the source. This can be done while on the cache page. Go to the Toolbar (it will say File, Edit, View, History, etc.) and click on view. After you have done this, scroll down and click on “view source”. There are two ways to hide text in the source. One is in the background picture, and the other is in the source encoding itself.

To find the background picture once you are in the source, push “Control”+”F” (if you are on a Mac push “Command”+“F”). This will bring up the “search document” text bar. Here, type Update: 4/4/2011: No longer type "SKIN", now type "BODY BACKGROUND"; and it will take you to the background picture. Once there, copy the link to the picture and then open a new tab on your internet browser and paste it there. You can now see the background picture.

To find hidden words in the source, push “Control”+“F” again. This time, though, type “LONG”. This should take you to the long description. Once there, begin to read through and see if anything is in the source that was not in the text on the cache page. A common HTML code to hide a word is< !--This should be hidden --> (it has been slightly modified so that you may see it on the cache page).
