Geocache Description:

Cache placed in conjunction with the St. John's site museum, with approval of Historic St. Mary’s City. There is room for travel bugs and other small trades. Terrain is generally flat, though not paved, and the final cache requires a tiny bit of bushwhacking. New nano for the FTF.

The St. John’s Site represents an historically important location in Maryland’s history. While this cache can be found without visiting the museum, I highly recommend taking the time to check out this wonderful exhibit. The site is a fantastic example of how archaeology is conducted, and provides insight into how early colonists lived. The St. John’s site is open year round. Hours vary by season and can be found at: (visit link) . Generally, Jan-mid Mar Fri-Sun 10am-4pm. Mid Mar -mid June Tues-Sat 10am-5pm. mid June-November Wed-Sat 10am-5pm. There is no charge for the St. John’s Site museum (donations appreciated), however, other areas of historic St. Mary’s City do require a fee. Parking coordinates are good for most days, but may be invalid for special campus events, such as the summer concert series on Friday afternoons/evenings. Coordinates for the closest campus entrance are also provided for ease of navigation.

To find the cache, proceed to the listed coordinates and locate the information on the sign. By plugging in the numbers, you will figure out the final cache coordinates which are a short distance away.
