Geocache Description:

BIOTE – Blame it on the Economy. This is a series of caches around the McKinney area, each of which are located at a location that isn’t today what it was intended to be a few short years ago. We hope you enjoy your tour of McKinney.

A long time ago there were two major pharmacy chains in McKinney… Walgreens and Eckerd. Around 2002 or 2003, CVS Pharmacy made a move into the north Texas area. In early 2004, if you drove west on Eldorado Parkway from Hwy 75, you would pass an Eckerd, a Walgreens, and finally a CVS. Eckerd was going to open a store here in 2004, but in April of that year before this building was ever occupied CVS purchased the Eckerd stores in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas from JC Penney. After the sale the Eckerd store near 75 on Eldorado was converted to a CVS. If this store were also finished out as a CVS, the drive west on Eldorado from 75 would have taken you past 3 CVS stores and 1 Walgreens store in about 5 miles. As a result of this overbuilding of CVS pharmacies, no pharmacy ever moved into this location and the building has remained vacant for nearly seven years (as of when the cache was hidden).

This is a simple P&G cache.
