Geocache Description:

Yorkley is a large village situated 2.5 miles north of Lydney and just under 8 miles south of Cinderford. The village sits on top of a hill at 600ft above sea level, giving panoramic views of the Severn and the Cotswold Hills. To the North the village is bounded by forest and to the south by agricultural land.

The forestry track down to Danby Lodge is a solid wide even surface. You leave the edge of the village at this point and enter an open woodland with plenty of native trees and bracken. You will probably find that your GPS signal is relatively weak from this point onwards as although you are at one of the highest points of the walk you are also getting quite a bit of cover from the trees which does make GPS readings rather variable. We have tried to be as accurate as possible so apologies if you find you need to do a bit of fumbling about. Please keep an eye out for Muggles as this area is dog walking heaven, and they can approach from various directions. The cache is a camouflaged micro with pencil - not big enough for swaps. Please note none of our caches require you to climb on to or over walls, fences or wires or to trespass on private property. All caches are placed with permission from the Forestry Commission, Coleford.
