Valentine Exchange Treasure!
You
are welcome to participate only in the Valentine's Day Flash Meet
& Greet portion and are **not** required to participate in the
Gift Exchange to log the event as a Find/Attended but, if you do
wish to take part in the Gift Exchange, PLEASE follow the
rules.
Read
and follow the instructions carefully so everyone has a great time
and no one is disappointed... Valentine Gift Exchange
rules:
1)
Prior to attending the event, hide a Goodie/Gift somewhere within
10 miles of the Event Location. The gift can be whatever you
like... gift card, unactivated geocoins, TB dog tags, swag items,
cache containers... etc. It can have a Valentine or Geocaching
theme if you would like but that is not required! Gifts should be
between $10-15 in value. Place your gift items in an inexpensive
container (i.e. Tupperware, lock & lock, Valentine tin, etc.)
and hide it to be found later that day. You may fill the container
with Valentine cookies or candy to take up any left over space in
the container but make sure your gift container is weather
resistant and critter-proof. BE SURE to mark and write down the
coordinates for the location of your hide and include inside the
Micro container. (These are just coordinates for finding this
treasure, coordinates should NOT be submitted or published!) The
Gift should be picked up by the recipient directly after the
Event.
2)
If participating in the Gift Exchange, you must bring a Micro
Container to the Flash Mob event with the coordinates included
inside for the Gift you hid for this Event. In addition, please
include your Geocaching name and cell phone number inside the Micro
container just in case the seeker needs a phone-a-friend to find
their Gift.
3)
At the event, the Micro Containers will be placed in a container
and mixed up. Everyone who places a Micro container in the bowl
will then be able to randomly choose another Micro Container from
the bowl. For those families with multiple cachers, you may
certainly participate as many times as you would like ~ just bring
one Micro Container with coordinates for each Valentine Gift you
hide.
4)
After the group photo, the event will be over and you should head
out to find your Valentine Gift. Remember... the entire gift
(container and all) is yours to keep, so make sure you take
everything with you after the find! These containers are placed
only for the Gift Exchange portion of the event and nothing should
be left behind by the finder.
5)
When you log the event as Attended, please thank the cacher who hid
your Valentine Gift. You may share what your Valentine Gift
included, if you like. You can even post a picture of the container
and hiding spot since this is not a regular cache hide. Additional
Thoughts: Be creative in your container and in hiding your
Valentine Gift. You can make it a Traditional Cache, or you can
make it a Puzzle Cache or Multi-Cache to make the hunt more
challenging, if you'd like, but please don't make it too
convoluted. Use your imagination and have
fun!
Remember... the Valentine Flash M&G is a 15 minute
event ~ so don't be late!
PLEASE
post a Will Attend and indicate how many people will be attending
as well as if you are planning to participate in the Gift Exchange
(and how many times, if more than once). E-mail us if you have any questions concerning the
rules.
