Geocache Description:

Sv.
Najzgodnejši zapisi o cerkvici segajo v 15. stoletje.
Najdeni so bili razlicni predmeti staroselcev (košcen glavnik, ostanki oglja, kosti domacih živali, ostanki steklenih caš in keramicnih posod, železna pušcica, okroglo kovinsko zrcalo ...).
Ime je koca dobila, ker so jo zgradili delavci kranjskih Iskrinih obratov, ob pomoci dijakov in zaposlenih srednje šole Iskra (danes TŠC Kranj).
Javorov vrh (1434 m)
skozi Hudicev boršt na Kališce (1540 m)
Cjanovca (1820 m) in Srednji vrh (1853 m)
mimo Potoške gore na Dom Cemšenik (835 m)

Sv. Jakob (961 m) is a frequentlly visited hill above Preddvor. The hill got its name after the little church on the top of it, which was built in the 15th century.
To climb the hill one would usually drive through Preddvor, village Hrib and park at parking near castle Turn. It takes from 45 min to 1 hour to the top.
The church of Sv. Jakob (St Jacob) was built in the 15th century. The interior walls of the church are decorated with gothic frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible and Sv. Krištof. The church was restored a few times. Current altar was built in 1886.
Arcehological site from The Late Antique Period (5th to 7th century a.d.) was discovered west of the church. A lot of objects used by inhabitants of that period were found (comb made of bone, remains of charcoal, bones of domestic animals, remains of glass cups and ceramic pottery, iron arrow, round metalic mirror, etc.).
There is a mountain cottage Iskra near the church. The cottage got its name Iskra, because it was built by the workers of the Iskra company from Kranj.
There is a great view of Ljubljanska kotlina (Ljubljana, Škofja Loka and Kranj) from the top of the hill. Behind the hill of Sv. Jakob there is slope Zaplata with its outstanding Hudicev boršt (the only part of the slope populated by trees).
Sv. JaKob is a good starting point for climbing:
Potoška gora (1283 m)
Javorov vrh (1434 m)
skozi Hudicev boršt na Kališce (1540 m)
Cjanovca (1820 m) in Srednji vrh (1853 m)
mimo Potoške gore na Dom Cemšenik (835 m)
