Geocache Description:

Water will have it's way, eventually. You can see how it's carved it's own way time and time again. For each foot of flood water, 1500 pounds of a large trees' weight is displaced. This means that 5 feet of water has more than enough energy to send most tree trunks floating helplessly downstream. BYOP Studying the flows of rivers and waterways is one aspect of hydrology. This cache will be gone in a flash should it ever come high water.

Flooding is a natural part of a river's cycle. The majority of the erosion of river channels and the erosion and deposition on the associated floodplains occur during flood stage. In many developed areas, much like the areas along Cypress and Spring Creek, human activity has changed river channel form, altering different magnitudes and frequencies of flooding. The coords were taken on an overcast day and there is plenty of tree cover. We all know that 10 - 30' off sometimes can be expected with poor reception so if you find the coods are Way Way off, like 50' or more, please send me a note and I'll try to go back on a nice clear day and average some better coords. ALSO, Ive come to know that park personnel dont particularly like seeing off - trail paths, you know, our GeoTrails. If you notice that we are wearing a cachepath pretty hard, please think about taking a little different route and maybe even try to erase the trail a little... and CITO.
