Geocache Description:


Warby Springs is a locality just off the Hume Freeway between Glenrowan and Wangaratta. It is at an altitude of about 203m above sea level. The nearest sea is the Tasman Sea which is part of the South Pacific Ocean about 190km southwest of Warby Springs. It is just off the Fifteen Mile Creek, and is situated 1.9km from Glenrowan – a small village with a population of approximately 350 citizens. (Supplied by bonzle.com)

The Warby Springs are not true 'Mineral Springs', but fresh water springs or seepage located at the toe of the alluvial fan deposits that flank the Warby Ranges.

In the 1980's the spring had a small pavilian erected over it and it was the focal point of a motorists wayside stop on the old Hume Highway. This portion of the highway has been bi-passed due to the re-routing of the Hume Freeway around the townships of Glenrowan and Wangaratta.

Many similar springs occur on the flanks of the Warby Ranges. They are used for domestic, industrial and farm water supplies.

The cache is hidden in a north-bound rest area on the FREEWAY about 1 kilometre before the McDonald’s service centre. There are wonderful views of the Ranges to the east.

You are looking for a camouflaged bison with no room for swaps. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT.
