Geocache Description:

Now its that time again, to make a little after work event in the south-west-part of Scotland. After the success of last years event, we are now planning the 2011 Ayrshire meet. We'll spend some time with other cachers, having a BBQ and telling geocacher stories. Some new caches will be set and there are older caches too in this area. Other activities will take place a little earlier than the BBQ.

Thanks to the Mega Team of 2010, we have been donated a sum of money for this event, this will go towards food for the BBQ, hopefully there will be enough to feed every one attending. Closer to the time, when confirmed numbers of attendees are known, we can make a better judgement call on this.
For those coming from afar camping has been authorised F.O.C at the site, It is a farmers field, so basic camping, no toilets available other than the two porta-loos at the croque club.
The main event of BBQ and drinks, to meet and chat will be from 17:00, on the Saturday, followed by a game of croquet to the wee small hours, or the last cacher standing. However there will be some side events, which will take place during the day.
The clay pigeon shooting, courtesy of FFB and R&T, has been requested by many to be repeated. This is in hand and as last year the charges to cover clays and cartriges will apply. A small fee to cover cost of clay's and cartridges, £1:50 per 25 clays and £3:50 for 25 cartridges. (We may have to limit the number of participants for the shoot depending on interest). If you wish to participate in the clay shoot and you do NOT have a shot gun license, we will need you to send a private message from the profile page of ROSE-&-THISTLE, with your NAME, ADRESS and D.O.B. This is for legal purposes. The Dundonald scouts have also be approached to do the crate climbing and archery again.

Thanks to the Aljo's there will be 8 new caches published for the event. These may be published the day before the event. We would be grateful, if they are published the day before the event, that they are left for FTF seekers on the day of the event.

Car parking will be at the above cords on the same field as last year, with the tent area also at these cords. You may wish to park in Dundonald and search new and existing caches whilst walking the short distance to the event site. There are bus services to Dundonald, from Troon (service 10), Irvine (service 21), Kilmarnock (10&21) and Ayr (24). Signup will be in form of a "will attend" log with information about how many people will be attending and if you wish to participate in the clay shoot.
During the evening, we will also have a follow up meeting to discuss the Mega Event for 2014. for more ifnormation Click here to go to the Geocaching in Ayrshire page for the Mega Event 2014 ??. All persons attending the event, participate in the activities at their own risk.
