Geocache Description:

Moderate walk through fantastic scenery.

The walk starts at Hartsop a small village lying in the Patterdale valley, near Brothers Water, Hayeswater and Kirkstone Pass. Consisting of 17th Century grey stone cottages like so many of its neighbours. Hartsop retains its historic image, in that, in common with a number of other small Cumbrian villages, it had houses with spinning galleries and was also a lead mining community - you will pass the old mines as you walk by. Red squirrels, badgers, birds and other wildlife like this peaceful valley setting. Fantastic views from the cache site not only over the tarn but as far as the distant Helvellyn to the NW.
