Geocache Description:

Circular walk through trees to tarn and up onto fells.

Park in the car park at Glenridding, walk back to the main road and turn right over the beck looking for the road signposted Mires Beck. Walk up the road, which becomes a footpath, until just after the last building there is a junction, take the left fork signposted Lanty's Tarn. Follow the footpath past the buildings at Westside, then turn left on a footbridge over a small river. The footpath now begins to climb steeply through the trees as it zigzags up the hill towards Lanty's Tarn. From here head out of the trees and pick up the path across the side of the fell, in the direction of Gillside. There's another short climb up to the cache. Up through the trees there are peeks of the Lake - from the fell and the cache site you can enjoy wonderful panoramic scenic views and the most terrific view of the Lake. There's a shorter route back to Glenridding to make it a circular or a shorter walk overall if you miss out the tarn on the way up.
