Geocache Description:

This cache is placed at the former site of Normanston Hall. This is the 3rd and final cache from our mini series placed around Normanston Park.

This is a nano sized cache.

Normanston Hall was bought by Edward Leathes in 1832 and was owned by the family until 1906. Leathes Ham at the bottom of Normanston Park and Leathes Close are named after this family.

In 1906 after the death of a Miss Leathes, Normanston Hall was put up for auction. The auction included the house, the grounds (Normanston Park) and two cottages. The purchaser was Sir Arthur Monckton, (after whom Monckton Crescent and Monckton Avenue are named) he owned Normanston Hall until 1922 when it was acquired for use as an Isolation Hospital for Tuberculosis.

Normanston Hall was used for this purpose under two Medical Superintendents, until 1945 when it was vacated. Between 1947 and 1962 it was used as changing rooms for Normanston Park. It was demolished in 1963.
