Geocache Description:

You are looking for a brown matchstick holder. The cache is extremely snow friendly!

This 2.5 mile loop hike takes you along wooded trails and an old carriage road on Jones’ Mountain in New Hartford. This hike is beautiful all seasons of the year. We placed the cache a few days after a 20+” snowstorm, doing the hike on snowshoes. We have also hiked here in the summer when you can see beautiful green moss growing on the stone bridges. Whatever time of year you come, it is worth coming back each season for a new experience.

This cache is named for a structure found at the top of the mountain. The foam dome is made of wood, steel, concrete, and foam. It was built by a member of the Jones family in the 1970s.

Wear bright colors during hunting season as some of the trails border a private shooting area.

Enjoy your journey!
