Geocache Description:

Fun cache in a fun environment. Water abounds.

The main water here is of course the sea, but there are waterfalls, streams & estuaries to explore. The variety of trees and birds is fascinating and tidal pools teem with more.

Piha is a hub of activity with Surf Lifesaving, Volunteer Fire Service, a dairy, tennis club, bowls, campground, an art gallery, RSA, and even a cafe.

Several other caches sprinkle the area, with an earthcache taking you off the beaten track. Cliff top walks will net you views and traditional caches. Bush walks offer more riches.

Caching by Komiti is a play on words as well as a hint. I hope it fans the flames of caching and that you'll thirst for more. It is easily accessed, practically a drive-by, with shady parking and even a picnic table!

The container is about 800ml and tubular with camoed camo. No bush bashing required. Be strategic. Hidden with a Garmin 60CSX.

- !!Traffic alert & foliage alert!! -

Kids must be road wary as access might be on a busy curve. If the nearby foliage is damaged, the environment suffers and the cache will probably be muggled.

Local domain campground is good if you'd like to make a weekend of it. Otherwise lodges & baches can be booked.

Sunscreen, hats, beach gear and picnics are good. Ice creams and some hot food options are available. No petrol available so start out full. Piha is gorgeous in winter too, so come prepared.

Caching Tips For New Cachers:
1. Have the Cacher who removes the cache replace it for exact positioning & concealment.

2. Do not put pencils INSIDE plastic bags to avoid punctures.

3. Carry extra log sheets, pencils, moisture eaters & plastic bags so you can help with cache maintenance as you go.

4. Be very respectful of plant life so as to maintain a healthy environment in which to play.

Enjoy!
