Some people will do anything for a Klondike Bar. Some cachers will do anything for a FTF. We thought we would have some fun and combine the two. This cache is very accessable in the late Spring, Summer and Fall. Winter time may be a different story. There is a yummy, frozen treat waiting in the cache for the FTF. Hurry before it melts. 4-2-11 the TFT prize is gone, but we visit the area a few times a year and there will be other yummy prizes place in this cache on occasion.
7-12-11. Changed the terrain to a 3. The hill was much easier to climb when there was snow on the ground. It's steep, but a short climb to more level ground. 4-4-2011 After a couple of months of craving a Klondike Bar, two cachers and their 4 legged caching friend could take it no longer and headed out of the warm valley up into the snow covered hills in quest of a Klondike bar. Eureka!!!!!! They stuck gold.
It was right there where they had stood “Cold Stone” two months before wondering where it was. This time they didn’t come up empty handed, and headed home with the prize in their hands and paws, licking off every delicious melting creamy drop all the way home. Congratulations to Mocha, Del2u and Dix1 on earning the Klondike Bar. It seems that Dix1’s memory improves with age
. We learned what a cacher would do for a Klondike bar, wonder what challenge we could do next……… 1-31-2011 Oh, goody! Once again it’s snowing and we’re in for a cold spell. We find it amazing what some cachers will do for a ………… Even though 2 ½ feet of snow covers the ground, some hardy cachers put forth an effort to find the “Klondike Bar” as if they were going after Olympic “Dairygold”. While the dogs may have been chasing a “Blue Bunny”, the cachers dug and dug until they felt like “Frosted Rocks.” As evening approached, the group finally decided it was a “Dreyer” situation and decided with all that “ice” they had been “creamed” and had better get off that mountain before they turned into “Cold Stones.” As they drove home, they “Russelled” with the fact that they had been so close, yet so “Farr” away from enjoying a “Klondike Bar.” We're glad these cachers took it all with "Good Humor". Don't say we didn't warn you. At this time, we'd give the difficulty a 5. The yummy frozen treat sill lies there on that mountain waiting for either a crazy cacher to come and dig it out of the snow or for the snow to melt and a cacher with better sense to retrieve it the easy way. Oh, what will a cacher do for a ………………..? THE CHALLENGE IS STILL ON! ************************************************************************ The cache is a small lock top rubbermaid type container, just big enough for the frozen treat and log to fit into. The listed ratings are for the time of the year without snow. The cache was physically placed in early December when there was less than a foot of snow on the ground. The cache was posted in January when there is a lot more snow and the difficulty and terrain ratings rise as the temperature lowers. Are you up to the challenge? Mal forgot to put in a writing tool, so bring a pen or pencil along with your shovel, boots, gloves, snowshoes, snowmobile and etc. You may also want to bring along a thermos of coffee or hot chocolate. We're excited to see who earns the first smiley and the frozen treat. Have fun!!!
