My grandpa, Gerald LaVet Erickson, was an architect in the area around here. He, unfortunately, died when I was seven years old. After getting into this whole Geocaching thing, I thought that it'd be a lot of fun to put caches over near places he designed!
This cache is located near a church that my grandfather designed, and that I had the privilege of attending when I was very young. I had not been to this location in many years, and it was a joy to see the beautiful building and grounds again. It brought back a lot of good memories.
The new location is now nowhere near the palm trees. But definitely take the time to observe the architecture!
Bonus points if you leave a comment with a grandparent story. Gold star if you find it with a grandparent or grandchild.
Grampa Gerry Anecdote: The French Restaurant
My grandfather, grandmother, aunt, and mother had dinner at a very fancy and expensive French restaurant. The service, I'm told, was decent, but the food itself was bad. The story goes that when the waiter approached the family to ask them how the meal was, my grandfather kissed his fingertips and said, with an air of sarcastic satisfaction, "Trés barfy!"
The waiter, apparently, was thrilled.
