past the wastes of Anfauglith, Morgoth had his stronghold of
Angband. The Grey Elves named Angband in their own tongue, the
Sindarin, to mean "Iron Prison". And it was of iron and of
unnumbered dark red bricks made from the surrounding land. From
Angband did many foul waters flow, issuing forth from dark cracks
and channels to spoil the land ...
