The Cut Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheBignells: I had a rare trip to this part of town today and decided to call by and check on this one.

I'm afraid to say that GZ has been boarded up and looking at the plans - our host will not survive.

Therefore, with great regret, I am going to archive this puzzle that I enjoyed setting and reading all the logs that came in.

Thanks to all those that visited and awarded a fave point.

Geocache Description:

The Cut

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates, that’s just your starting point. Walking the same route every day, I started to notice things that only a cacher would and I started to ponder this little puzzle, based on one I had done before close to home. So, join me on my (previous) walk to work!

The Cut is a street in Lambeth and Southwark, London. It runs between Waterloo Road (west) and Blackfriars Road (east). At the western end to the south is the well-established Old Vic Theatre and half way along on the north side is the more experimental Young Vic. Opposite the Young Vic is Short Street which leads on to Ufford Street. Southwark College is to the south. At the eastern end on the north side is Southwark tube station. Opposite this is The Ring public house, above which is a boxing gymnasium. It is here that the Marquess of Queensberry allegedly wrote the modern rules for the sport of boxing.

There are many good local restaurants in the street and the road forms part of the B300. To the southwest is Baylis Road and to the east is Union Street which was previously called the New Cut.

You are heading for Great Suffolk Street and you need to keep straight until you reach it. As you walk, look out for the items that I have photographed and answer the questions. Put the numbers into the formulae and go collect the cache. Some of the items are spotted going to work and others on my way home – remember that and to make things really easy, they are in order – from the starting point.

Once you have all your numbers, you might like to collect another London cache - JFH GC2CEKJ whilst you are in the area!

At GZ you are looking for a 35mm Film Canister and please remember stealth when retrieving it – this is London and all the roads are very busy, particularly during the week.
