Ancient Places Series - Sleepy Hollow Traditional Cache
NannaTrains: I am sorry to finally have to archive this cache. It was set by Ancient Seekers a long time ago now sadly both passed away. However I am unable to get down to do maintenance so I am archiving this cache. Thank you to everyone who has done the cache in the past.

This cache is one of a series. There are five at the moment. We hope to add more in the future. All are going to be placed in Ancient or Historic locations (hence the name) around Herefordshire. There are many historical sites around the county which we have found interesting and would like to share some of these with fellow Geocachers
Aconbury Wood surrounds the Iron Age hill fort, named Aconbury Hill Fort or Caer Rhian, but many locals refer to the site as The Roman Fort. It is believed that the fort was occupied from the second century BC for about 400 hundred years and pottery has been found on the site to suggest this. There are many paths leading up to what remains of the enclosure that was the main fort and there is a path leading West to North following the old ditch . Partly hidden by trees on the summit is a triangulation point and from the North bank of the enclosure there are splendid views of the Herefordshire plain including the city itself .
This cache is actually placed within the bounds of the site of the ancient monument by kind permission of the Duchy of Cornwall.
Congratulations to Organised Chaos for First to Find
