Higgins Well is a Holy Well or Sacred Spring. Therefore dates back many years. The well was restored and enlarged by public subscription to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
There is an old folk tale that once a local resident did not like people visiting the well so filled it in. Consequently the waters rose and flooded his house so he had to reopen it.
Congratulations to Organised Chaos for First to Find
Parking for at least two cars is available near the well down a rough road little more than a track from the St Marys Church. There is limited parking at the church.
One can also reach the cache from Little Birch village hall and parking.

Then via a downhill track of about three quarters of a mile, this can be rough and wet at times therefore the terrain would be increased to 2.5 A pleasant short walk.
The water in the well is not that deep but please take usual precautions where children are concerned.
