Geocache Description:

In a recent (2010) culinary magazine, several Vancouver restaurants were pitted against each other. Some of the higher ranking choices were to be expected and others were newer to the critically acclaimed list. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the secret ingredient to some restaurants was not just the cuts of meat and freshness of the produce, but the physical design of the kitchen space.

Food critics determined that non-linear, ergonomically designed work spaces increased both morale and productivity. The by product of this was a greater care and passion in the chefs and cooking staff, which in turn created better tasting food. Prime importance was placed on using arced counters, instead of straight lines and harsh angles. Rounded surfaces are used where the chefs can interact with each others work, instead of straight assembly lines. Factors such as these were all present in the higher ranked restaurants, suggesting the value of ergonomics in the kitchen. For the 2010 year, here were the critics choices.
