Geocache Description:

A beautiful 8km circuit in Springbrook National Park (5.5km if you do a car shuffle) taking in Little Nerang Creek, Waringa Pool and Purlingbrook falls and a few other smaller waterfalls on the way. It will take you through many varied terrains on a combination of road, fire trail and graded tracks.

Most of the circuit is on the Springbrook section of the "Great Walks!" track. Any reasonably fit cacher will be able to tackle this one, the tracks are good with no navigational problems. Make sure you take water and appropriate footwear. After heavey rains you may have to wade accross the creek.

The cache location is NOT at the published coordinates (which is roughly at Waringa Pool). However, you will need to do the circuit to collect the missing numbers to help you find the cache, which is located outside the NP boundary on public land.

Park at Purlingbrook Falls car park S 28 11.364, E 153 16.131 and walk back through Springbrook township on the road/path approx. 2.5km to WP1 at 28 10.482, E153 15.576. You could do a car shuffle here and reduce the walk to 5.5km.

At WP1 head down the fire trail to WP2 where you will find a NP sign. You'll need some info off this sign.

Continue on passing through some lovely bushland following an old logging trail down to Little Nerang Creek. Cross the creek and take the steps up the other side (this is the only really steep bit). N.B. A quick side trip behind the arrow sign at the top of the stairs along a disused trail takes you to a small waterfall.

Continue along the creek to WP3 where you will find another NP sign. You'll need to collect more info here to enable you to work out the coords to GZ.

Continue along 100m or so to Waringa Pool and cross the creek again. Here you can cool off by leaping of the rocks into the deep pool ! Now continue on the NP graded track to the base of Purlingbrook Falls. It's fun to walk under the falls and continue the steady climb back to the car park.

Final Coordinates = S 28 10.XXX, E 153 15.YYY
Where XXX = (Ax2)-10 and YYY = (168xB)+9

A = The number of metres the track descends @WP2
B= Kilometers from here back to Apple Tree Park @WP3 (incl. decimals).

Checksum: Sum of the individual numbers in XXX & YYY = 33.

Now it's off to find the cache!

In the logbook you'll find a number which you'll need to find our "Herbz Challenge" cache (visit link)
