Ikke desto mindre har de naturligvis en interessant biologi, og er vel egentlig kun irriterende når de har gennemhullet et af vores møbler derhjemme i huset.
På billedet herunder (juvenil Alm. Slagborebille) ses tydeligt hvordan denne lille biologiske organiske (der i sig selv er ret skrøbelig) går i samspil med de mere hårde grundstoffer (Sb - Slagbohr og Br - Brummm). På dette udviklingstrin er boret kun omkring 0,5 mm, men hos de adulte eksemplarer kan der bores huller på op til 2 mm i diameter, og ca. 30 mm i dybden.
Der findes naturligvis også andre arter af Slagborebiller, f.eks. Stor - og Mega Slagborebille, men de er heldigvis meget sjældne her i landet. Dog er Stor Slagborebille set i Lerskov Plt. indenfor de seneste år.
Nevertheless, they have an interesting biology, and they are probably only really annoying when they have been drilling around at home in the house.
On the picture above (juvenile Drilling Beetle) it is easy to see how this little biological organic (which in itself is quite fragile) goes together with some more harsh elements (Sb - Slagbohr and Br - Brummm). At this stage of development is the drill only about 0.5 mm, but on the adult specimens, you will find drill hole punch up to 2 mm in diameter and approx. 30 mm in depth.
There are of course other species of Drilling Beetles such as Great - and Mega Drilling Beetle, but they are fortunately very rare in this country. However, Great Drilling Beetle has been seen in Lerskov within the past years.
