N is for........Nottins Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

The Alphabet Series - a series of 26 caches (13 in Lepton and 13 in Kirkheaton) + bonus cache. Named after Yorkshire cachers. Both walks are circulars and parking is available near the start of each walk.

DONT JUST ASSUME THAT N IS ONLY FOR NOTTINS - CHECK ANY CONTAINERS IN THIS SERIES FOR OTHER 'WORDS' . once placed in the correct order, these 'words' will make a sensible sentence which will lead you to the Bonus cache.

Caches N to Z are in Kirkheaton. The route will take you into the old school grounds and up some steps - dont worry as this is a public footpath. at the top of the hill, after walking through some fields, you will pass by the cricket field, before dropping downhill towards Dalton. Here you will pass by some farm houses before climbing the edge of Dalton Bank or Dolly Bank as the kirkheaton side of it was known to us Yettoners (Yetton -the locals name for Kirkheaton). admire the stunning views from up here before heading over towards Upper Heaton, before turning downhill through a planted area to the local football field. the route will take you back through ssome fields, passing very close to where you were earlier before crossing through the village and picking up a nearby bridle path. you will pass by the local convenience store if you need refreshments. the bridle path will take you back down towards your starting point.

although there is a car park at the school i am not sure when/whether it closes or whether it is for private use only. please park carefully if using the main road as it is on quite a bad bend - it would probably be better if you carry on uphill past the old school and take the first right into Lane Side, there should be plenty of safe parking here.

Your walk begins in the grounds of the old school - follow the steps upwards.
This cache is the 14th in the alphabet series. it is slightly bigger than a micro and contains a log and pencil and has room for small swaps - DONT FORGET TO CHECK THE CONTAINER FOR OTHER WORDS!

FTF: The Parkinsons - CONGRATULATIONS!
